It lacks pretty much every feature i was looking for. It flips normals on random elements on my .obj files. (Yes, they were exported properly) The controls are a mess, you can't rotate, or size yourself, or the modell just by dragging the controllers (like in any other VR software), oh no, instead you have to input your precise measures into a frickin calculator by pointing at buttons like a plonker... Also, when you resize your modell, you are resizing the whole "table" with it (which i guess has the size of your chaperone), and the modell will be always on the edge of the table, so you never have enough room to stand in front of your model to take a good look. Yes you can step away and look at the front in giant mode, but i want to walk around my model on a 1:1 scale, since...you know...THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SOFTWARE. I know it's EA but problems like these should have been fleshed out in the pre-alpha state. The UI is ugly, you can't set up the lights, you can't change environment (what's the point of a VR modell viewer in the age of PBR where you can't change the environment?), and only two formats are supported (.dae, .obj). This mess should be free. You can recreate almost the same software in Unity\/Unreal within like 3 minutes with 0 knowledge, just by drag and dropping a few assets, or just wait until Blender releases version 2.79 which will have official HMD support.. Overall I'm very impressed with AM Model viewer. As others have suggested, improving DAE and adding new formats, adding new view modes, and especially advanced shading methods would be the best. You may want to investigate Voxel Global Illumination Shading as the ultimate direction here for lighting. But its amazing what you've accomplished so far...its as good as IRIS VR without the long wait and startup hype. I generally put models in there and it works exactly as expected, with a few hiccups.. This is a reliable .dae viewer... which makes it good for sketchup users. It seems to choke a bit on large models... frame rates drop.I would like to see, better lighting... the lighting is rather flat! Also, some models load with geometry issues. Finally, the file selector suffers from a problem where for directories with many files... the slider FLYS through the file structure so fast that it is essentially un-navigable.Please keep up the good work... and really add some polish to this nice viewer!. I like this app. Just what I needed to view my Photoscan Models in VR. Thank you! I'm glad to see the author is still bery actively working on features for this program.. wish they add more formats and rigging option\/pose option to the menu. Its okay for the use of seeing most of the pc characters in 3d. However most models i try to view come in messed up or no texture at all.. I've been using this software with SketchUp to quickly put myself in a 3d model. Very easy to use and one of my favorite VR tools.. It lacks pretty much every feature i was looking for. It flips normals on random elements on my .obj files. While the app works as advertised, it is rather limited in functionality and doesn't appear to have been updated in over 2 years. It was interesting to play with as a first or second "model viewer" app, but once I found other similar apps, I haven't bothered to use this one.If you need something cheap, this might do what you need, but there are better apps out there that provide a similar function. Many of those have more features and\/or active development.. Will edit more detail into review later, but for now suffice it to say that I HIGHLY recommend to anyone with a Vive who either does 3D modeling or simply wants to play with\/surf models. Me - working on a home remodel in Sketchup and this has worked perfect for dropping into the model and *visualizing*. Was going to go through manual process & import into Unity & all that ...but this is WAY simpler & works great. For me it's been as simple as "export 3D" & open the model with the app to view\/walkthrough.Highly recommend!Kudos to dev! Keep up the great work.
